Description:

  • Modeled after an open-lab, flexible space concept, the three-story facility allows undergraduate and graduate students to work side-by-side with university and private-sector researchers, giving them real-world experience in the global search for solutions to critical problems in the areas of health, energy and the environment.
  • The facility accommodates 30 research groups in the life sciences working on projects as diverse as the development of alternative energy sources to new therapies for diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease and cancer.
  • This facility includes a vivarium for small rodent research, a BSL-2 research lab and BSL-1 research labs.
  • A 429-square-foot cleanroom is incorporated into the facility and provides research and development facility space for microfluidic (or lab-on-chip) devices.
