PROJECT DATA
- This project includes the renovation of the 49,000-square-foot
residence hall on the main campus which now serves as headquarters
for the History Department.
- The renovation of the historic 1926 structure includes window
restoration, upgrade of mechanical, electrical, information
technology and plumbing systems, life safety and accessibility
modifications, interior finish improvements and utility
infrastructure upgrades.
- Original windows, slated for replacement, were reused by
creating a solution for restoration and reconfiguration to allow
them to hold energy efficient glass.
- This project set the standard for University's use of
design-build for future historic renovations on campus.
- Project team worked seamlessly with Texas Historic Commission
and University officials to maintain the integrity of the historic
architecture while creating additional educational space.
- This project is the winner of numerous national and regional
awards including: National Associated Builders and Contractors
(ABC) Excellence in Construction Pyramid award; Design-Build
Institute of America Excellence Award, ABC Central Texas Chapter
Excellence in Construction Award of Excellence.
- The Heritage Society of Austin recognized this project for its
commitment to historic renovation while Texas Construction Magazine
named it on of the Best of 2007.
- The University of Texas recognized the project with the Safety
Through Exemplary Performance Silver Level award.
